Cinco Charities Hosts “Sip n Stroll” Wine Tasting

Katy Residents now have their own event for wine lovers! Save the date, Thursday, Sept. 23rd, 5:30 to 8:30, for the 1st Annual Cinco Charities Sip n Stroll. There will be over 20 wine tasting stations, restaurant and chef demos, a specialty brew sampling station, a silent auction and live music.

Villagio Town Center provides the perfect venue. Centered around a cobblestone courtyard with a picturesque fountain and clock tower, Villagio has the atmosphere of a Tuscan village. Villagio is located at the northeast corner of Westheimer Parkway and Peek Road.

Ginger Hopper, Chairperson for Cinco Charities, said, “The Sip n Stroll will be a first of its kind Katy event. We’re excited to partner with Food and Vine Time to make this event a regional favorite.”

Cinco Charities, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing temporary housing for individuals and their families who are hospitalized or receiving treatment in local medical facilities for a serious medical condition. It has been providing housing since 2008. Keller Williams Katy, also located in the Villagio Center, founded and sponsors Cinco Charities.

2010 Independence Day Fireworks Show at Katy Mills Mall

The 21st Annual Katy Freedom Celebration fireworks display will be held at Katy Mills Mall on Sunday, July 4th. The fireworks are launched between the east side of the mall and Katy Fort Bend Road.   This display begins at dark (approximately 9:00 p.m.) and can be viewed from several miles around the mall area.

This event has been a huge success in the past due to the generous contributions of the neighbors and businesses in the Katy community.  If you would like to make a tax deductible donation to this annual event, please send your check made payable to “Katy Freedom Celebration” at the City of Katy, 5718 Second Street, Katy TX  77493.  Cash donations are accepted also.  Please direct questions to cshafer@cityofkaty.com or call 281.391.4711.

Little Shop of Horrors at Miller Outdoor Theatre

From July 13th – 18th, starting at 8:15 pm you can enjoy Little Shop of Horrors tells the story of Seymour, a timid and nerdy sales clerk at the seedy Mushnik’s Skid Row Florists, barely in business in lower Manhattan. He achieves fame and fortune after he discovers an exotic plant named Audrey II, a giant man-eating plant who demands to be fed. A Greek chorus of hip soul singers narrates the thriller with a score in the 1960s style of rock and roll, doo-wop, and Motown. Audrey’s appetite grows to gigantic proportions as the cast rapidly diminishes. This show promises to be an audience favorite!  (captioned performance on July 16)

Summer Sounds featuring Jerry Diaz & Hanna’s Reef

4th of July Jamboree

The Smith Ranch will be holding a 4th of July Jamboree. All proceeds go to the Foundation to help kids be able to participate in Cheerleading, Baseball, and Equine sports. This year they are excited to say that they will have live bands Two Tons of Steel, Granger Smith, and other local bands for you entertainment. Also there will be Water Slides, Bounce houses, Paddle Boats, Car show, silent auction, BBQ Cook-off (contact for entry information), and tons of fun for the entire family!!! Beer and Wine will be available.   

The event will run from 12:00 pm to 11:00 pm.  Admission is $10 per adult and $5 per child.  .
