A panel of participants in the power plant fight follows. Eric Mayer, Lawyer; Elena Marks, Mayor White’s Office; and ranchers Robert and Jo Cervenka will tell of their roles in the fight and what looms ahead for Texas energy. Katy Rice Harvest Festival Parade and CarnivalThe Katy Rice Harvest Festival has been a Katy tradition since 1978, honoring the Katy rice farming legacy.  Although the number of rice farmers and fields in the area has lowered significantly since that time, Katy still holds a festival honoring the legacy.  The festival is held on October 11 and 12, 2008 in Downtown Katy.

The Festival features crafts, food, and live entertainment on 2 stages. It’s fun for the whole family.  Each year, about 40,000 - 50,000 visitors attend the Rice Harvest Festival. Read more

In 1979 a group of concerned citizens who wanted to save the old MKT depot, which was slated for demolition, formed the Katy Heritage Society. Since that time, the Katy Heritage Society has been working as a charitable organization to fulfill one mission: to further educational and cultural development of the community by preserving and restoring historical landmarks and documents.

Today, The Katy Heritage Society opens our historic homes for free public tours, we host free community concerts from our bandstand, conduct tours for students and tourists and serve as a key source for historic information and research in the area. Read more

It recently opened on the corner of Westgreen and I-10 in the Westgreen Park shopping center (in the same location as the former Whiskey Mill). Although rain has delayed construction, the Stars at Night Drive-In will be completed soon about 8 minutes West of Katy in Brookshire.
