After 18 months of construction, the West I-10 Fire Department is hosting a grand opening to celebrate the new “Station 4″ facility located on Franz Road. The grand opening will take place at the station on August 8th from 1 to 4 p.m. There will be food and drinks, and Katy residents are invited to check out the new facility and meet the firefighters.

What Ever Happened to The Rock-afire Explosion?
Remember the good old days, when the king of pizza was a rocking gorilla instead of a skateboarding mouse? The place where a kid could be a kid was called Showbiz Pizza Place, and the band that shook the house day after day was known as the Rock-afire Explosion.
On Wednesday, Aug 19th at 7:30 p.m., the Alamo Drafthouse will feature a documentary of the story behind the Showbiz concept. It will answer questions you may have never asked about one of the worlds greatest animatronic rock bands in history. In traditional Alamo Drafthouse “movie theme” fashion, they will be serving all-you-can-eat pizza while you watch the movie. Read more

Local Homeless Web Celebrity Tim Edwards Returns Home from Treatment to a New Life
If your daily commute to or from work involves the intersection of Highway 6 and the Katy Freeway, you may be familiar with Tim Edwards. He was the guy standing on the corner holding a sign for a very long time. He called the overpass home, and was a part of thousands of commuters daily lives. He wasn’t making much progress in his own life until he was approached by the creators of PimpThisBum.com, who converted him into a walking billboard. He advertised a website that enabled people to donate to help get him and other homeless people off the streets and on the road to a better life. Read more

The Day Katy Texas Stood Still…
Don’t ask me how I found it, but I recently stumbled across an interesting video of a man being interviewed because he supposedly witnessed a UFO sighting in his own backyard -right here in Katy, Texas!
The 4 part interview was recorded by an independent reporter who happens to call himself “Independent Reporter”. After doing a little research on the show, I found that this is no “Art Bell” wannabe. The Independent reporter covers a variety of topics and offers in-depth commentary that isn’t as ridiculous as this story may lead you to believe. Read more

How to Purify Christmas
Americans spend 450,000,000,000 (thats 450 Billion) on Christmas every year. If Christmas is about selfless giving, we might want to consider giving our money to those who are in need, rather than throwing our money away on meaningless gifts. And instead of “stuff” that breaks, give our loved ones the ultimate gift: Our time. If time is not enough, try the “meaningful” gift option: Make something, find an old photo, write a poem, do a favor, reunite some people, something that will matter more than a flashlight or a back massager. Hey, just a thought. Here are some more ideas: Read more

Dirty Hackers Attack!
We recently discovered that our beautiful little site was hacked by a filthy spammer… The hacker had used a script that placed invisible links to numerous pharmaceutical websites on our innocent pages. We have now removed the links and gotten everything back to normal. Although this exploit has ruined my weekend and caused me to stay up countless hours fixing the problem with my good friends at Poetic Systems, some positive improvements have been made as a result.
