Dewberry Farm Offers Lots of Fall Fun
Fall is upon us once again and everyone knows what that means….pumpkins! If you are you are looking for something fun to do with the kids instead of just visiting a pumpkin patch, Dewberry Farm is now open for it’s 7th Season. Open weekends from September 27th to November 30th, Dewberry Farm is ready to help you make some great family memories.
Dewberry Farm is located just west of Katy in the town of Brookshire and has many fun activities for the entire family to enjoy! With the weather cooling off, it’s the perfect way to spend a few hours or more on the weekends.
General Admission Includes: Hayride to pumpkin patch, Corn Maze, Barrel Train Ride, Fort DewHickey, Hay Mountain, Giant Roller Slide, Black Mamba(New for 2008), Human Gerbil Wheels, Singing Chickens, Barnyard Area, Rubber Duck Races, Pig Races, Farmer Flinger and Little Farmersville.

Children 2 and under: FREE General Admission
Kids (age 3-54) $11.00 (tax included)
Seniors 55+ $8.00 (tax included)
Military and Law Enforcement $9.00 (tax included)
Tickets may be used for any Saturday or Sunday during the fall season.

Katy’s Local Olympian: Raj Bhavsar
I cannot speak for anyone else, but the Olympic Craze in my family has been at an all time high this year. It rules the TV and DVR in our household lately. Why?
Because my husband and I both went to Mayde Creek High School (c/o 1999) and graduated with US Gymnast, Raj Bhavsar! It is just incredible and a bit surreal to see someone we knew on television representing our country.

Annual Tax-Free Weekend August 15-17
As the new school year is approaching at a rapid pace, shoppers are gearing up to take advantage of the annual tax-free weekend, August 15-17. Many local retailers will open their doors early and close later than normal due to the event.
Essentially, clothing and footwear that is priced under $100 is exempt from local and state taxes. Buyers can expect to save around $8 for every $100 they spend. Backpacks in the same price range are also exempt.
LaCenterra always seems to have something going on and in honor of the tax-free weekend they will have various activities and entertainment, including family karaoke.
