The second annual Bike for Mike event and fundraiser will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at the Union Chappel Vineyards/Bar O Ranch, with proceeds directly benefiting the Fulshear community. With over 400 participants last year, the event is expected to bring out even more riders this spring. The ride will feature 21, 43, and 53 mile routes, as well as Pedal Pusher 3 mile route for families with children of all ages to enjoy.
Fulshear leaders created this annual bike ride in memory of Dr. Michael T. McCann to benefit the city he loved so much. Each year, the Michael T. McCann Foundation Board will select a special project specifically for the beautification of the community, with this year’s plan to include updating the Fulshear historic and neighboring cemeteries with rod iron fencing.
Dr. Mike McCann passed away in 2007 after a long battle with cancer. He served as chairman of the Fulshear Planning Commission for many years, dedicating much of his time to the development and growth of the city. An avid bicyclist, he spent many hours each week cycling, all while undergoing treatments, a true testament to his strength and abilities.
This event has received tremendous support, involvement and efforts offered through the entire community, generous business, churches, clubs, and many volunteers. For more information about the event, please visit www.bikeformikefulshear.comor contact Monty McCann Guidry at 713-826-6555.
