New Christmas Tree Farm in the Katy Area

Published on November 26, 2009 by OK Press

dewberry-farmsKaty area residents have a new option for their Christmas tree shopping this year. Beginning Friday, November 27th, families are invited to come to Dewberry Farm and cut their own Christmas tree. The Farm has over 3,000 trees ready for harvest. You can choose from Virginia Pines, Leland Cypress, Murry Cypress, and Blue Ice varieties. Sizes range from 3 to 10 ft tall. All trees are priced individually with prices varying with tree height and quality.

The seedlings for this year’s tree crop were planted in 2006 and after 4 years of intense management including trimming, fertilizing, spraying, watering, and mowing, the trees are in beautiful condition. Christmas trees require a tremendous amount of work, according to owner Larry Emerson, but the end result is very satisfying. “I’m really looking forward to families coming to the Farm and finding their Christmas tree. I know seeing the smiles on the kid’s faces will make all the work worthwhile.”

A hayride trailer will take families to the trees located in the “back 40” of the farm. There they will be given a saw and advice on how to cut their tree. Employees will be available to assist if desired. After the tree is cut, it will be taken to the farm headquarters where it will be shaken to remove dead needles and baled for easy transport home. While the tree is being processed, families can enjoy all the activities and delicious home cooking that Dewberry Farm is famous for. Santa Claus will be at the farm for the kid’s wish list and a great photo op for the parents.

The farm will be open Fridays noon to dark, Saturdays 10 am to dark and Sundays noon to dark from November 27th until December 13th.. There will be no admission charge to the farm during the tree season. Dewberry Farm is located between Brookshire and Waller on FM 362 , 7 miles north of Brookshire. More details and a map to the farm can be found at www.dewberryfarm.com.
