Festivities begin with a parade through Fulshear, and a laser light show to end the night.

The original plan for fireworks were changed recently to a laser light spectacular out of safety concerns during the area’s severe drought.

Come watch Mayor Kuykendall sing, and if you also want good music “the Starlettes” will perform. There wil be a “Church Smackdown” Tae Kwon Do demonstration, camel rides, over 30 booths with vendors and kids events like face painting, a clown, and balloon animals.

Tennis camp at Pine Forest runs daily Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, and includes lunch.
Campers can expect personalized tutelage from the club’s professional instructors with an excellent 8 to 1 student to teacher ratio.

Each day camper’s shots will be recorded in order to review and analyze with their instructors. This way students will instantly recognize mistakes and see how to improve upon them.

The camp is headed by Glenn Nagorski, club head pro and interim director of tennis, who has more than 16 years of instruction experience. Previous students under his training have gone on to win tennis awards at the high school and collegiate levels.

Classes are for both beginner and intermediate level tennis players. Beginners will start by hitting various shots over the net and learning the scoring system. Intermediate level players will fine-tune their swing, become more consistent at sustaining a rally and bring their game to the next level.

Amenities include the only tennis camp in the Katy and West Houston area with both indoor and outdoor tennis courts to help stay cool in the hot summer sun. To further help campers cool off after match play there is a brand new resort-style swimming pool with a 40-foot water slide and a splash pad with a large water dump.

On Fridays campers will enjoy a pizza party with their new friends and have the chance to take an hour of free golf instruction, because who wouldn’t like to learn that sport too?

How It Works

Upon first entering Ceramics by Tess you will be welcomed by a smiling staff and walls featuring a seemingly endless variety of unfinished ceramic pieces to choose from.

You or your kids select the piece you want to create, decide if you want a glazed or acrylic finish and get to work painting.  All brushes, paints and other supplies will be there waiting for your use at no additional cost.  Acrylic pieces have a flat finish, dry quickly and can be taken home as soon as the paint dries.  Glazed pieces have a glossy finish and must be heated in the kiln to give them a proper seal.  They are available for pick up in one week for you to take home.  However, when they are ready, Tess places them right in the front window so you can spot it as you walk in.  Imagine the sense of pride in your child when they see their work out on display!

Customers are free to stay as long as they wish to perfect their crafts, and unlike other ceramics studios are not charged any sitting fee and there is no limit on color choices.  Free personal instruction is available for anyone from first timers to experts.
