drive-in.jpgIt sounds too good to be true but apparently it is coming. Although rain has delayed construction, the Stars at Night Drive-In will be completed soon about 8 minutes West of Katy in Brookshire. According to the website, the theater will bring an old tradition back for a new generation with a traditional drive-in, putt-putt golf, and arcade and of course your typical all-American concessions offering cheeseburgers, chili-dogs, pizza, popcorn and ice cream.

Prices appear pretty reasonable compared to traditional theater options in Katy. Adult tickets go for $7.50 (or hide in the trunk) plus you can grab a hamburger and drink for an additional $6.50.

This theater should come as a welcomed addition to the unique entertainment offerings in the area. Coupled with Alamo draft house, Stars at Night drive in could make Katy the ultimate movie destination suburb in Houston. A number of residents have actively shown interest in the Katy Topix forums. Check out the Stars at Night Drive-In’s website for more information and upates.

When is the new drive in theater going to be built?

  • Carson

I checked the website… and it looks like there have been some delays with construction. Here is what it said:

“We are working hard to open as soon as we can. A detention pond issue along with some contractors who are not reliable, have put us farther behind schedule. It is disappointing, but we will overcome these delays soon.”

“We are so thankful for the support from all of you who are looking forward to our opening. It gives us a boost to talk to people who call and say “keep going!” Sometimes in construction, things don’t go as planned.”

A detention pond? Lovely!!!! I’m befuddled with that! Mosquitoes? The heat and humidity on top of those that want to run their A/C for me to breathe exhaust fumes? Who wants to be crammed in a vehicle with a bunch of kids on a hot summer night with drippy ice-cream cones, mustard smeared on the interior of my SUV not to mention the flies and mosquitoes????? Then the unsupervised kids running around the lot creating more liability for me? Sounds good but I remember those days and relished the days of indoor, air conditioned cinemas with the comfort of nice reclining chairs……..!

    Good luck!

Our family will be glad to come out and check out the new drive in. This is very retro! We wish the owner the very best.

Well the drive-in has turned out to be a big disappointment. I really wish the guy well, but for such a long wait – a big field with port-a-potties just isn’t quite what I was hoping for.

  • Janine Godwin

Thanks Daphne for the ‘heads’ up! Not in the mood to share porta potties…. but it’s nice to have something different in the Katy area.

    Bummer

    Port-A-Johns????? Oh my! Nasty!

    Hi,
I am Tom Hutcheson. I am the owner of the Stars at Night Drive in Theater.  I had to tear the theater down to avoid a hostel take over of my business.  It has been an awful year and a half.  We do have some land in Sealy available and are looking for investors to  rebuild this worthy project for all our area famalies to enjoy.  Is it possible to put this new location on your page??? If you could just say that we are trying to rebuild in Sealy, it wpould help people know what is going on with the project.

    Thank you !!
