The Arc of Katy Fourth Annual Charity Gala
The Arc of Katy’s Fourth Annual Charity Gala will be held on Friday, February 26th at the Pine Forest Country Club. This year’s theme is Together We Can and the Honorary Chairman is Katy Mayor Don Elder.
The Arc of Katy is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization benefiting individuals in the Katy community with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The mission of The Arc of Katy is to create opportunities for all children and adults with cognitive, intellectual and developmental disabilities that enable each person to be a participating and respected members of our community and to grow in mind, body and spirit. 2nd Annual Festival of Trees to Benefit Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels

The Second Annual Festival of Trees will be held at Safari Texas’ Magnolia Ballroom beginning at 7:00 pm on Friday, November 20th.
This year’s festival Unwrap the Magic will honor Neil and Carolyn Banfield, Linda Hancock and Billie Neuhaus.
The event is designed to bring families together to kick off the holiday season and raise money for the Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels program.
“The festival will let people experience the sights and sounds and share the spirit of St. Nick with their families, while extending a blessing to a senior,” Meals on Wheels CEO Manuela Arroyos said.
The event will be dressed in holiday style with trees underwritten and decorated by area businesses and organizations. The decorated trees will be sold during the live auction. The trees will range in size from 3 feet to 9 feet and can be underwritten for $20 to $300, respectively.
Additional activities will include Santa’s Workshop for the children, Mrs. Claus’ Gift Boutique and entertainment provided by the Fort Bend Boys Choir – Town Choir and the sounds of the Kit Reid Band.
Tickets packages include the Holiday Family Pack for $150, family tickets at $90, individual tickets for $50 and children under the age of 10 for $25.

Ronald McDonald House Charities Junior Golf Clinic on November 21st
Families are invited to attend the Ronald McDonald House Charities Junior Clinic to be held at The Houstonian Golf & Country Club driving range on Saturday, Nov. 21, starting at noon. Attendees will learn tips and tricks from LPGA teaching professionals and have an opportunity to practice their putting and chipping. The clinic is open to children aged 7-17 and is free of charge with tournament admission. The torunament will run from Thursday, November 19th to Sunday, November 22nd.

Tour De Donut Bicycle Race at Katy Mills November 1st
The Tour de Donut is a unique bicycle race where riders embark on an appetizing 28-mile journey with rest stops along the way serving as many delectable donuts as you can eat. For EACH tasty donut consumed, the rider is awarded a tempting 5-minute time credit. Eat enough delicious donuts, and you can finish the race before you even started!
The event is being held Sunday, November 1st at 8:00 am at Katy Mills Mall, 5000 Katy Mills Circle.
$25 pre-registration for either the 28 mile Donut-Consuming Challenge OR 55 mile BP MS 150 Recommended Ride; Family Ride is $15 preregistration per rider.
Celebrate Your Princess 2009 Breast Cancer Awareness Walk October 31st

Cross Creek Ranch has partnered up with CHRISTUS St. Catherine Hospital to host a breast cancer awareness walk on Oct. 31 at 9 a.m. at Cross Creek Ranch in Fulshear.
This is a family walk with a Pink Pamper after-party for participants, which includes free services, boutiques, a kid zone with the Disney princesses, bounce house, rock wall, face painting and snacks. Since this is a family walk, leashed dogs are invited and there will be a Pink Pooch station as well. Walk to honor, to support or strengthen the cause .
There will also be a book signing With Denise Hazen, author of Treat Her Like a Princess: How to Help your Girlfriend with Breast Cancer.
Each participant will receive a “Celebrate your Princess” tote and t-shirt! Registration is $20 October 10th-30th and $25 Walk Day.

Help Katy School Children by Contributing to Operation Backpack
For the fifth consecutive year, “YMCA Operation Backpack” joins the forces of 38 YMCAs, local churches and other partners to touch the lives of tens of thousands of Houston area children and families this school year.
Thousands of school supplies will be collected for children who might otherwise go back to school unprepared.
Through Aug. 16, YMCA Operation Backpack will collect brand new backpacks filled with school supplies and distribute them to children in 31 Houston area school districts. Read more
“HOPE” Day at New Hope Presbyterian Church

“HOPE” Day is an acronym for “Help Others Prepare for Education” Day. A variety of organizations will be present during that time to help families in need whose children will be entering local school districts this year.
Vouchers for free school immunizations will be handed out by Christ Clinic of Katy as well as coupons for a discounted school outfit at Katy Christian Ministries Resale shops for those children receiving the immunizations. A school lunch kit and dental care kit also will be available. The number of vouchers and kits is limited to 100 and will be given out on a first-come, first served basis. Registration information for Katy Independent School District and Cy-Fair Independent School District will be available.
The Katy/West Houston community is encouraged to stop by the church and drop off school supplies that will be distributed through Katy Christian Ministries. Items such as notebook paper, pencils, plastic folders, 24-box of crayons and ziplock bags are needed. Fun, games and a puppet show will be available for the children and a hot dog lunch will be served by the church’s Men’s Group.

Local Homeless Web Celebrity Tim Edwards Returns Home from Treatment to a New Life
If your daily commute to or from work involves the intersection of Highway 6 and the Katy Freeway, you may be familiar with Tim Edwards.
