KVPAC’s Encore Players Drama Dog Headshot Contest
KVPAC is holding a special photo contest promoting the upcoming play, Sylvia. Send your dog’s best photo for the Encore Players Drama Dog Headshot Contest. Enter to win by sending a high-resolution jpeg close-up of your dog or drop off an 8 x 10 at KVPAC. All submissions must be received by January 30, 2010. Photos will be displayed in KVPAC’s theatre lobby and audience members will vote during intermission at each performance of Sylvia. One winner will be declared at the close of the production and will receive a special doggie prize basket. The Katy Chamber of Commerce will celebrate the opening of new cage-free boarding facilities at The Dogfather Ranch on Saturday, November 7, 12-2 p.m. A renowned dog training facility and pet-sitting company, The Dogfather Ranch opened in 2006. On Saturday, the first 50 dogs in attendance will have a chance to win FREE obedience training!

Celebrate Your Princess 2009 Breast Cancer Awareness Walk October 31st
Cross Creek Ranch has partnered up with CHRISTUS St. Catherine Hospital to host a breast cancer awareness walk on Oct. 31 at 9 a.m. at Cross Creek Ranch in Fulshear.
This is a family walk with a Pink Pamper after-party for participants, which includes free services, boutiques, a kid zone with the Disney princesses, bounce house, rock wall, face painting and snacks. Since this is a family walk, leashed dogs are invited and there will be a Pink Pooch station as well. Walk to honor, to support or strengthen the cause .
There will also be a book signing With Denise Hazen, author of Treat Her Like a Princess: How to Help your Girlfriend with Breast Cancer.
Each participant will receive a “Celebrate your Princess” tote and t-shirt! Registration is $20 October 10th-30th and $25 Walk Day.
Kids 12 and under are Free! Kids T-Shirts can be purchased separately.

Is Your Pet Registered?
If you reside within the City of Katy and your pet gets out, you may be in for more than you expected. Unknown to many Katy residents, it is required by City Ordinance that all domestic pets (in particular, cats and dogs) four months or older must be vaccinated and registered yearly with the City of Katy.
Registration insures that your pet can be easily identified and associated with your phone number and address by Animal Control in the case that it is found. Read more
DockDogs Catch Big Air at the Katy Home and Garden Show
The DockDogs® “Sportsmen’s National Series” took place this year at the Katy Fall Home and Garden Show. DockDogs is the independent governing and sanctioning body for regional, national, and international dock jumping performance sport for dogs. DockDogs establishes the rules and standards of the sport, tracks and records results, and promotes the growth of its athletes, Teams, events, spectators, and sponsors. To that end, DockDogs establish and review under committee direction DockDogs Rules and Policies which are reviewed and updated annually.

Animal Planet Expo at Cullen Park in Katy
The Discovery Channel’s Animal Planet Expo is coming to the Katy area Cullen Park on Saturday & Sunday Aug 9th and 10th, 2008. Animal Planet and partners have teamed up to bring a free, fun-filled family experience to Katy. Get close to exotic animals, take fun pictures, go in the HD dome, and bring your leashed dogs (or cat) to the Purina park. Pet Parties for Pampered Pooches in Katy
