The Review of ‘the Whole Truth’
The Whole Truth, a new international horror film from Netflix, has been released, yet it is devoid of fear. The Whole Truth, a Wisit Sasanatieng film, is about two brothers who find a peculiar hole in their grandparent’s wall and investigate it. As a result of this change of events, the family was subjected to shocking revelations about their dark past.

Even though it spends most of its first-half establishing the film’s tone— by giving a backstory to Pim and Mai’s accident—The Whole Truth is an odd blend of The Gruge and The Visit. When a strange and enigmatic old person visits the kids, the film is a classic M. Night Shyamalan picture.
The film’s resemblance to The Visit will become apparent to viewers after a while. Things grow a little creepy around the heart patient Grandma because she is so forgetful and erratic. Viewers may wonder at times what the old couple is up to, as there are some ambiguous situations.

At long last, we get to see a hole through the wall—which, to be honest, isn’t that interesting. What I liked best about The Whole Truth was the focus on the children’s relationship with their grandparents, namely how they embrace or reject them and whether or not they are, in fact, the people they claim to be. The awful CGI truly does it for the humorous next-door ghost, like in many previous horror flicks, a.k.a. The Grudge. There is also a hit-and-run inquiry that the Whole Truth devotes its time to. The film feels like it’s juggling too many different issues at once, such as how wealthy and powerful people are able to get away with murder because of foolish laws, bullying, retribution, and mental illness.

Unfortunately, the characters in The Whole Truth lack dimension. For spectators, there are no characters to root for. Pim and Putt are only two kids in a weird environment, but the frightening grandparents are terrifying. At least the siblings have something to cheer for: their shared experience of being bullied, which the couple attempts to sympathize with.
