Find out how to dry your AirPods Pro or AirPods (3rd generation) if they become wet, and find out how resistant they are to sweat.
Water and perspiration resistance is not the same as waterproof or perspiration proof, so keep that in mind when using your AirPods Pro, AirPods (3rd gen), and MagSafe Charging Case for AirPods (3rd gen).
Both the MagSafe Charging Case and the Wireless Charging Case for AirPods Pro are not resistant to moisture.
Swimming and washing are not recommended while wearing AirPods Pro or AirPods (3rd generation). AirPods Pro and AirPods (3rd generation) should be cleaned with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth after use and before being placed back into the charging case following vigorous exercise, perspiration, or accidental water splashes.
Do not dry your AirPods or AirPods Pro with any kind of heat or compressed air (3rd generation). All mentions of “AirPods” below also refer to the AirPods’ MagSafe Charging Case (3rd generation).
Safeguard your AirPods, both the original and the Pro model.
Resistance to sweat and water is temporary. They could weaken with time. Sweat and water resistance cannot be rechecked or resealed on AirPods Pro, AirPods (3rd generation), or the MagSafe Charging Case for AirPods (3rd generation).
These Guidelines Will Help You Keep Your Air Pods Pro and Air Pods (3rd Gen) in Mint Condition:
Keep your AirPods away from any source of flowing water, including the shower or sink.
AirPods shouldn’t be used in the shower, pool, or any other place where water could potentially enter.
- Your AirPods will be permanently damaged if you wash or dry them.
- AirPods shouldn’t be worn in a steamy environment such as a sauna or shower.
- When water sports like water skiing are in play, it’s important to keep AirPods out of the fast-moving water.
- If you want to keep your AirPods in working order, you should keep them safe from drops and other impacts.
- Whatever the case may be, if your AirPods Pro or AirPods (3rd generation) get wet:
- Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to clean them.
- Don’t use them or put them back in the charging case until they’ve dried completely.
- Soaps, shampoos, conditioners, lotions, perfumes, solvents, detergents, acids, acidic meals, insect repellant, sunscreen, oil, and hair color are all bad for your AirPods Pro and AirPods (3rd generation). Water seals and acoustic membranes are vulnerable to all of these. Any of the following may cause damage to your AirPods Pro or AirPods (third generation):
- Use a gentle, dry, lint-free cloth to wipe them down, then follow up with a moist cloth dampened with clean water.
- Please wait until they are totally dry to use or put them back in the charging case.
If you’re an athlete who doesn’t do your workouts in the water, you can still use your AirPods Pro or AirPods (3rd generation) because they’re sweat and water-resistant. Under the guidelines of the International Electrotechnical Commission’s standard IPX4, the second and third-generation AirPods have been successfully tested in a lab environment.
Normal wear and tear can reduce water and sweat resistance, which is not a permanent problem. Do not charge a damp AirPods Pro or AirPods (3rd gen); instead, wipe and dry them as instructed above. Unfortunately, neither the MagSafe Charging Case nor the Wireless Charging Case for AirPods Pro is resistant to moisture or perspiration.
