Yellowstone, 1883: The Series premiered on December 19, 2021, and since then, it has proven just as popular as its parent show, Yellowstone. The Dutton family’s history and the circumstances that led to the establishment of the Yellowstone ranch are explored in depth during the historical drama’s first season.
The original Paramount+ production 1883 has been attracting more viewers than Yellowstone National Park. It’s Taylor Sheridan’s first time serving as showrunner for a television series, but he was previously involved in the creation of Yellowstone.
The film 1883 stars Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Sam Elliott, Isabel May, LaMonica Garrett, Marc Rissmann, Audie Rick, Eric Nelsen, James Landry Hébert, and Noah Le Gros. Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, Billy Bob Thornton, Graham Greene, Dawn Olivieri, Taylor Sheridan, and Emma Malouff all make appearances in supporting or guest capacities as part of the ensemble cast.
James and Margaret Dutton, the show’s protagonists from 1883 and the first members of the Dutton family to settle in Montana, are played by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill once again. They were the original owners of the land on which the Yellowstone Ranch was established.
Guide to Viewing the Year 1883
With a special simulcast event, the first two episodes of 1883 were broadcast on Paramount Network immediately after Yellowstone, making it the most watched cable premiere of a new series since 2015.
However, for the next 10 episodes of the season, you won’t need to turn to cable. Instead, you can watch it on the Paramount+ streaming service every Sunday. Currently, you may see the first three episodes, and the fourth will premiere on January 9.
Paramount+ has two pricing tiers, with the Essential plan costing $4.99 per month and including fewer ads. Your local CBS station is included in the $9.99 Premium plan, and there are no commercials (save during live TV and select programming). The first week of either service is on the house. If you’re feeling very ambitious, and the timing works out, you can watch the entire season within your 7-day trial.
The Taylor Sheridan-created drama, Mayor of Kingstown, and the impending second Yellowstone spinoff, 6666, can all be found on Paramount+, along with thousands of other television episodes and films.

Check out The 1883 Teaser!
For a taste of what to expect from 1883, check out one of the two trailers we have provided. The first teaser debuted on November 8, 2021, while the second debuted on December 3, 2021. You can get an excellent idea of what 1883 is about by watching this official trailer.
It follows the Dutton family as James and Margaret, together with their young children, flees Texas because of the state’s dire economic situation and political upheaval. Sam Elliot’s Shea Brennan, who is also featured in the trailer, is also introduced.
He is the head of the expedition, a rough and intrepid man who is driving the wagon train westward. The trailer also reveals the bloody origins of the Dutton family. All in all, the trailer depicts a traditional Western environment that is significantly older than what we have seen in Yellowstone.
